BC Young Leaders’ 8th Annual Leadership Conference takes place in person from September 28-29. (see further accommodation details below)
In 2022, our sold-out conference showcased: “Harnessing the Leader Within” to tap into our existing strengths and identify new areas of growth to help us develop into truly authentic leaders.
For 2023, we are excited to shift focus forward to explore “FUTURE-PROOFING YOUR CAREER: Thriving in a World of Change.”
Registration Inclusions
Your conference ticket includes two full conference days, breakfast and lunch on both days, and an evening networking event (which is also open to CU executives!).

The conference kicks off at 8:00am on Thursday September 28, ending at 3:00pm Friday, September 29th.

Day 1
- The Changing Nature of Work (Keynote): how individuals & organizations navigate rapid technological and cultural changes
- Identifying Disruptors Panel: exploring the strategic mindset required to prepare for, identify, and react to industry disruptors/trends
- Incorporating Deliberate Practice: identifying key skills to focus on, and balancing adaptability and rigidity within your own personalized development plan
- Reflection & Networking: led by the committee, actionable takeaways and networking opportunity reflecting on Day 1 content
Day 2
- Leadership in a Distributed Workplace Panel: building & sustaining organizational culture, engagement, and purpose-alignment across divisions and a distributed workforce
- Future Proofing Through Eliminating Gender Bias: exploring how gender diversity impacts the bottom line, and how to advocate for equal opportunity — for yourself and others
- Being a Change Advocate: principles of successful change management, and how to lead without a title
Accommodation
Specially discounted rates (from $144 + tax) have been secured and are available for any conference attendees at: Sandman Signature Langley Hotel, 8828 201 St, Langley Twp, BC V2Y 0C8, which is directly across the road from the conference location.

Cancellation Policy
Bookings must be canceled by 3:00 PM local hotel time, 24 hours prior to scheduled arrival date, or the credit card provided will be charged one-night room rate, tax and applicable fees. To cancel or change your reservation, contact our 24-hour Central Reservations office at 1-800-726-3626 / 1-800-SANDMAN.
Deadline
Rooms and the preferred rates are held until August 30, 2023. Please ensure to book your room before then as preferred rates may not apply after this date (subject to hotel availability).
Extending your stay
Attendees are welcome to arrive earlier or stay later than our conference dates using our negotiated rates. These rates have been extended and apply to the following time period: September 25th – October 2nd.
Please ensure travel or flights are booked with enough time to stay for the closing session on the 29th.
Getting to the event
By Plane
There are two airports near to 19933 88 Ave, Langley, BC V2Y 4K5, Abbotsford (YXX) and Vancouver (YVR) International Airports.
Abbotsford (YXX)
From the airport to the conference / hotel is approximately a 20-to-28-minute drive (27km).
Vancouver (YVR)
From the airport to the conference / hotel is approximately a 35-to-55-minute drive (50km).
We have negotiated a special promo code, valid for travel on Air Canada bookings travelling between September 20 and October 6 for flights traveling to YVR. To book a flight using the promotion code, visit aircanada.com and enter promotion code: NDMUAUC1 in the Promotion Code Box. Discounts range from 5% to 12% depending on type of ticket purchased. Basic Economy fares are not eligible for discount.
Discounts will apply to trips booked 7 days pre/post event dates as well. Discount promo code may only be used on bookings made on www.aircanada.com. Some restrictions apply. Travelers enter the promo code in the field below the origin and destination. Discount cannot be applied after the booking is confirmed and paid so is important the code is entered during the booking process.

Parking
Reserved guest parking is available for conference attendees, and attendees may park in these stalls without needing to pay hourly. They are numbered 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 51, 55, 57, 59, 61 and 63. These stalls are signed “reserved” on the curb of each stall and are located beside the ramp to the underground parking. There are 2 accessible stalls near the building entrance.

BC Young Leaders’ 7th annual Leadership Conference took place in person from September 22-23, 2022 at the Sheraton Wall Center Hotel in Vancouver.
We focused forward to look at “Credit Unions of the Future” and how YOU can prepare yourself to lead through change with impact.

2021 BCYL Leadership Conference
BC Young Leaders’ 6th annual Leadership Conference took place virtually from October 18-19, 2021.
We focused on “Harnessing the Leader Within”. We heard from CU leaders on authentic leadership, identifying and developing your strengths, inclusive leadership, and how to build your own personal brand.

2019 BCYL Leadership Conference
BC Young Leaders’ 4th annual Leadership Conference took place in person from September 27-28, 2019 at the Delta Marriot Grand Okanagan Resort in Kelowna.
We focused on “The Future Of Work Is Now“, hearing from keynote speaker, Rocky Ozaki, Co-Founder of NoW of Work Inc.

2018 BCYL Leadership Conference
BC Young Leaders’ 3rd annual Leadership Conference took place in person from October 27-28, 2018 at the JW Marriot Parq Hotel in Vancouver.
During the two days, our sold-out group of 75 Young Leaders learned about improving our leadership performance, expanding perspectives, and engaging in system change.

2017 BCYL Leadership Conference
BC Young Leaders’ 2nd annual Leadership Conference took place in person from September 28-29, 2017 at the Manteo Resort in Kelowna.
We focused on “Leaders of Tomorrow“, getting the opportunity to network, hearing from credit union leaders, and sharing perspectives.

2016 BCYL Leadership Conference
BC Young Leaders’ Inaugural Conference took place in person from November 17-18, 2016.
This was a fast-paced, high impact two-day event that combined thought provoking workshops with action learning challenges to create a unique conference experience that supported the development of leadership and strategic thinking skills.
