What is BC Young Leaders (BCYL)?
BC Young Leaders is a young leaders network for Credit Union employees in British Columbia. It was created to provide young employees within the B.C. credit union system an opportunity to share and develop their leadership capabilities, regardless of their past experience and current role.
I have suggestions for BCYL – where can I share them?
Please fill out the form under Contact Us.
Membership
Who can join BCYL?
Any BC Credit Union employee who is 40 years old or younger, and has a passion for collaboration and self-development is encouraged to join the Network!
Why do you have to be 40 and under?
The opportunities provided by the BCYL Network are geared to those employees in the early years of their career and may be lacking experience and looking to develop their leadership skills. Also, this is in keeping with the age of other Young Leader Networks across Canada.
I’m a part-time/contract/on leave staff member – can I still participate?
Yes! As long as you are 40 years old or younger and have a desire to learn and collaborate, you are more than welcome to apply.
I’ve completed the application. Now what?
Applications are reviewed and approved on a monthly basis. New member intake will take place during the first week of each month. Application deadlines for each month are on the 15th day of the previous month.
I’ve registered but I’m not receiving any emails. What can I do?
Emails and newsletters from BCYL come from info@bcyoungleaders.com. Check your junk mail in case any messages may have been filtered, and make sure this email address is on your safe list.
How do I join the Working Committee?
Each Fall, we will review the needs of the team. The Vice-Chair will take over the role of the Chair. Depending on the size of the network, there may be positions available in the team. These positions will be filled through a nomination and election process. More details will be provided closer to the date.
Events & Initiatives
What happens if I cannot make it to an event/initiative?
In order to get the full BCYL experience, we encourage all Network members to participate fully in all events and initiatives. What you put in is what you get out so we hope to see you at our next event.
How much does it cost to take part in the events?
Most of our events are free. Others are subsidized and sponsored so a nominal fee will get you in. This is typical for our annual conference and in person events.
